Using Paua Shell in my unique handmade jewellery designs along with semi-precious stones

I would say along with most others that paua Shell is one of the most beautiful shells in the world and that is why I love to use it in my unique handmade jewellery designs.

These shells are sourced from the deep cold waters off the coast of New Zealand's south island.

It is the deep cold waters of this area that produces the very hard shell with its deep and rich iridescent colours.

The colours of the Paua Shell vary in shade and depth depending on the angle they are seen and the colours included in the Paua Shell go from bright vibrant purples and more subtle lilacs, deep pinks and greens

This is a unique handmade necklace design where I have used paua Shell in the design. In this necklace I have used marquise shaped Paua Shell beads that have been highly polishes and set in silver. I have used the deep blue colour and the bright pink. These Paua Shell beads have been set between Sterling Silver tubes and this piece of handmade statement jewellery is going to look great worn dressed up with a simple black dress or worn casually with jeans and T. Shirt. A piece of handmade jewellery for all occasions.

The purple of semi-precious Amethyst brings out the purple and lilac colours and the shiny Blue Goldstone looks amazing with this shell and if I set the paua Shell into semi-precious Black Onyx the colours of the shell are so vibrant and I think are shown at there best.

I am always on the look out for new semi-precious stones to use in my handmade statement jewellery designs and when I came across this cracked Black Agate I know that I had to have some of these beads.

I have chosen faceted beads with this unique necklace designs so that they will catch the light and I love that each of the beads are slightly different in design.

Now I have these lovely Agate stone what do I do with them and do I create a unique jewellery design using these semi-precious stones on their own or to I incorporate other semi-precious stones.

I decided that I would use some Rock Crystal to compliment the markings in the Agate and I choose some smaller round faceted beads and again these will catch the light perfectly.

Now I have these two semi-precious stones I am looking for some colour so I chose some rich berry coloured freshwater pearls. The colour of these pearls has been enhanced with the black of the Agate.

When I saw the colours of these beads I remembered that I had some stunning handmade lampwork beads so I thought I would see how they looked against the semi-precious stones and they looked beautiful so I decided that I would use these as well in my design. I think that this combination of semi-precious stones, pearls and lampwork beads has worked beautifully and I have used Sterling Silver beads and fittings in this handmade semi-precious gemstone necklace UK designed jewellery design.

Rock crystal is said to be one of the strongest of the crystals and has many qualities and is used extensively in crystal healing. It is also a beautiful semi-precious stone that works well in handmade jewellery designs.
